Companion Home Care of Long Island was founded by Dorothy Anderson in early 2004.  Dorothy, a certified nursing assistant and working mother, was dealing with an impossible situation, caring for her family.  While this family member did not need medical care, they did need help with almost all daily living needs; cooking, cleaning, errands, doctors appointments and medication reminders.  The responsibilities left Dorothy overwhelmed.

She started seeking help but kept running into the same issue; she did not need the expense or the expertise of a certified aid, yet, she needed more than a housekeeper.  That's when the idea of a carecompanion came to be. The perfect person, someone who could do all that her Mom needed.  Dorothy knew of co-workers that could use extra hours and shortly thereafter, Companion Home Care was born.

It seemed to her that, during a time of worry and high stress, no family should have to add to their worries by having the difficult, sometimes seemingly impossible task of finding appropriate non-medical care for their loved one.

Dorothy serves as President and CEO of Companion Home Care of Long Island who's corporate office is located in West Babylon, NY, is a non-medical home care agency servicing seniors, veterans and others needing assistance and supervision with daily living activities, throughout Suffolk, Nassau and Queens County. 

At present, Dorothy is a member of Home Caregivers Accreditation of America and National Association of Professional Women, Copaigue Chamber of Commerce and is proud to have Companion Home Care of Long Island listed as a BBB  accredited agency.
